Set the steps, assign the tasks, let the system run the engagement.

Your engagement workflow lives in your senior manager's head. Which is fine — until they're on vacation. Or leave. Or it's March and every engagement is running simultaneously and nobody has time to explain the process to someone who doesn't already know it.

ModernPM bakes that institutional knowledge into the system — so the workflow runs whether or not the person who built it is in the room.

Defined at the Template Level

ModernPM lets you define task sequences, dependencies, and role assignments at the template level — so every engagement starts with the right steps in the right order. Reviewers can't complete a step until preparers finish theirs. The sequencing is enforced, not suggested.

Recurring tasks are configured at the template level so monthly and annual cadences are baked in. The system creates the tasks when they're supposed to be created. Nobody has to remember.

Time Tracking and Status

Time tracking can be toggled per task so admin work doesn't generate billable time. A task exists for operational reasons, the system knows it's non-billable, and it never shows up on an invoice.

Project status updates as tasks are completed, giving managers a real-time view of engagement progress without a single status meeting. The dashboard shows where things stand because the system tracks them, not because someone manually updated a field.

The Bottom Line

Your best process, in the system — not just in someone's head. Task sequences, dependencies, recurring cadences, non-billable task controls. That's a workflow engine built for CPA firms.
