Define the process once. Run it forever.

Your firm's best process should be everyone's process. Not just the partner who's been there fifteen years. Not just the senior who set it up three engagements ago. Everyone. Every time.

That's what project templates are built for in ModernPM.

What Templates Configure

Templates let you define workflows, tasks, billing plans, rate tiers, service lines, and time tracking settings once — then spin up projects all day with everything pre-populated. Service lines and tags auto-fill so nobody creates a rogue project with the wrong billing structure. The entity field can be locked at the template level, and you can require template usage firm-wide so the standard is actually enforced.

Rollover Settings

Here's where it gets really useful: rollover settings let you define exactly what happens when an engagement rolls to a new period — what carries over, what resets, and when the new project fires. Configure it once per template and the system handles the rest. No manual project creation required every fall. Recurring engagements create themselves.

Bulk Updates Across Active Projects

When your process changes — and it will — you don't have to update two hundred projects one at a time. Modify the template, approve the changes, and push them across every active project tied to that template. Two hundred projects updated in one move. That's the kind of thing that used to require a spreadsheet and a prayer.

The Bottom Line

Standardized. Scalable. Your best process, in the system — not just in someone's head.
